Yeah,
just another detailed Nova! But these things just take so well
to the detailing I can't get over it. This is an RE car, but the
factory detailing is still pretty nice. Nothing that can't be
improved on, but still nice. It got the full treatment with painted
details and chrome trim. My special tricks included fixing the
air cleaner decal and giving the grill the proper SS treatment.
This
one got chrome on the drip rails and on the side window frames.
Other external detailing included painting the lug nuts and black
washing the cowl grill. This guy looks great with the red and
white Novas for that patriotic display. The next blue one I do
will have a white vinyl roof. I didn't think about that until
I had the chrome all done so I decided to just leave it as it
is.
The
one thing I really like about detailing Ertl Novas is that the
interiors need no real work. This one got detailing on the shifter
and that's about it. Even the knobs & switches are chromed
from the factory.
Here's
where I do most of my work. Paint on the master cylinder, battery,
washer bottle, under hood, radiator and support, hose clamps and
I trim the excess background away from the air cleaner stickers.
This
area got paint on the gas tank, leaf springs, drive shaft, starter,
oil filter, steering link and transmission. Unlike when Ertl paints
the transmissions, I leave the bell housing engine color. Chevy
factories sometimes painted the bell housing and sometimes didn't.
I like the look with it painted so that's they way I detail my
cars.
