A customer had a rare orange Yenko Camaro but it had been damaged. He was able to replace the broken windshield but didn't know what to do about the scratches in the roof. Enter: SCOOTER-MAN!

I was happy to do a vinyl roof. What I had failed to remember that the 69 Camaro had a unique vinyl roof treatment. Unlike most roofs which go all the way to the drip rails, the roof on this Camaro stopped early and leaves a small band of paint showing. My mission was to replicate this treatment. It turned out pretty well I'd say.

Here's a close-up of that unique top. Believe it or not, I was able to do the chrome edge around the vinyl in one single continuous piece (12-inches long!). The paint on this copy is very nice, but quality of the casting is not the best. Evidence that Ertl took this mold WAY too far. The good news is that the chrome foil covers all the casting flaws. This car got more benefits from a good detailing than most.

I didn't really do much here, but since this is an LE it looks very nice. I added the details to the battery. This model would perk up with more detailing on the master cylinder, exhaust manifolds, alternator and water inlet. The warning sticker on the fan shroud looks nice.

This job wasn't as tough as I thought it would be so I detailed the rally wheels as well with a little black and silver paint. Here you can also see the wheel opening and marker light detailing.
Enjoy Dan!
