I really like Chevelles but even so I was beginning to get a little tired of this mold. Even the 69 Camaro line has quite a bit of diversity in it. I finally found my red SS454 and my Fathom Blue SS454 so I thought I had all I needed. Of course until Ertl put out the Baldwin-Motion Chevelle. When I first saw the pictures I thought it looked a little overdone (well, the real things look overdone so this fits). But in person this model looks outstanding. Those very-popular-at-the-time Cragar mags really look right on. Combine that with the fact that black cars detail so well this was a natural to do the full job to. Before I jumped in though I had to fix that darn roof stripe. For some reason Ertl didn't see fit to finish the stripe all the way to the front and rear windows. Of course my endeavor to complete the stripe turned into quite a fiasco. Suffice it to say I ended up removing the entire roof stripe and redoing it with white decal material. It ended up okay but it sure was a pain in the rear. Pay attention to the interior shot, I really think the paint details on the steering wheel really finish off the 70 Chevelle models.
