1970 Nova SS396, Yellow (Ertl)

Just more evidence that Ertl's latest releases have just gotten better and better. This one got the full treatment. Real Novas could have three types of side window chrome trim: 1. window frames and drip rails chromed, 2. only drip rails chromed, 3. only window frames chromed. This one got everything chromed. Adding the SS-style thin chrome strips to the grill really completes the package. With as much detail as Ertl poured into this model I'm actually surprised they left out that one small important detail. I also can't figure why they painted the firewall body color when GM products always had black firewalls. Had they just left the black plastic of the firewall showing they could have spent their time and money doing the grill correctly! Painting the appropriate underhood areas (firewall, underhood, radiator & radiator support) black really makes the model look less toy-ish.

What do you think of my new backdrop?
