In a way, this is the model that started it all. I had detailed a number of my own diecast at the time MTR was working on their first LE. I had just discovered chrome foil which I found to be much superior to silver chrome paint. After a few conversations with MTR, they asked to see a sample of my work. I didn't have my camera yet, so I boxed up my yellow 70 SS454 model and sent it off to them. They were thrilled and sent me one of their two Ertl prototypes of their new project. This is the first and only LE prototype I have seen in person and it was kind of interesting. Anyway, I chromed it and sent it back and the guys at MTR were so jazzed at the results we entered into an agreement to work together to produce a very limited edition run of 150 high detail versions out of their 2500 run Shadow Grey Chevelle run. It took me just under 4 months to complete my end of the deal and I still haven't caught up on detailing my own collection which I didn't have time to work on at the time. And as you can imagine, I also didn't do too much detailing for a few months after the end of that project.
The MTR cars got a full dose of chrome detailing. My own copy also got additional body paint on the grill, trim paint on the steering wheel, door panel emblems and exhaust tips. I plan to add rectangular exhaust tips and little more paint to the undercarriage. There's no reason my version of this very limited edition car shouldn't have more details than the rest!
