1968 Hurst/Olds, Silver/Black (Ertl)

This has to be one of Ertls best hits in a while. The paint scheme is very well done and the tampo badges are everywhere they should be and very sharp and colorful. Since the car has great chassis detailing so all I've really done is a little paint detailing and of course the chrome. The chrome is hard to see on a silver car but you can see the black wash I've added to the hood vents.

One thing Ertl overlooked is the short horizontal bars that tie the turn signal lenses to the headlight bezels. I've added them to complete the grill's already solid look. When I have more time, I'll also go back and add the proper satin black to the under hood, radiator-to-bumper filler panel and the cowl cover at the base of the windshield. I did black out the air scoops and I painted the master cylinder.

I'm really glad Ertl included red plastic tail light lenses instead of simply painting them in. I really love the sweeping, uninterrupted strip of chrome from the bumper to the base of the windshield on the a-pillar.

While I haven't done any detailing under here yet, the undercarriage is worth showing off. Ertl should detail ALL their cars this much. A little paint goes a long way. To finish it off all I'd have to do is paint the drive shaft, shocks and steering links.

The interior is quite nice as it comes out of the box too. I didn't add anything here either. Just look at the detail on the dash, seats, door panels and steering wheel! Great work Ertl!
