The Genesis of Project LS6

Pretty humble roots, huh? Man this Street Heat car is ugly with those garish red stripes and bright red interior. The mag wheels would have to go too. You can see how blah the grill looks before adding the proper extra body color paint. You can also see the cowl induction hood details and hood pins that had to be removed.

The tail pipe tips had to be upgraded and of course a good dose of chrome trim is certainly in order. Those wild red stripes would have to be removed.

Here you can see the roughly half way mark. The car has been disassembled and the chassis details have begun. The new wheels can be seen, they have not yet been detailed yet however. The hood has had the cowl flapper door and hood pin holes filled in and it sits in primer. You can also see the filler in white that I've added to rebuild the drive shaft hump and the buckets are now in place with the 4-speed shifter.

Here is a close up of the hood in primer with the cowl door and hood pin holes filled in. It was filled in, sanded, primered and wet sanded a number of times to get things smoothed out.

Here is the freshly painted hood. The shiny black paint was wet sanded and repainted a couple of times to get it nice and smooth.

The engine before anything was done to detail it is pictured here. You can see the cowl induction hood air cleaner that was removed to be replaced by the correct looking unit.

Here is a picture of the engine in progress with the wires in place. Yet to come are the plumbing and the improved valve covers. The new air cleaner is in place with the proud 454 and 450hp decals in place.
