AMC has been missing from the American Muscle line up for way too long. Though the Javelin and AMX weren't the most common cars of the Muscle era, they were decent cars, had some racing history and deserved to be represented. Ertl's first AMC product is a complete winner. The AMX is one of the best looking cars to come out of the Muscle era and certainly one of AMC's best efforts. The "real" AMXs of 1968 and 1969 are the best of the bunch in my opinion. In later years when the AMX was merely a package for the Javelin, some of the appeal was lost. You will recall that in 1968, 1969 and 1970 the AMX was a shortened wheel base (by a full foot) Javelin and thus became a real two-seater. In later years, the AMX was a package available on the regular 4-seater Javelin.
Anyway, I've been very busy lately but when my AMXs arrived I just had to throw some chrome on them to see what they would look like. Ertl's new molds are too few and far between so a brand new car and the first 1:18 diecast from AMC has gotten me real excited. Take a look for yourself how great this mold is!
These first two shots show the pair with just the chrome details in place. The pictures following that show the two with full blown detailing in place. You'll notice how much better the Big Bad Orange '69 looks with the wheels painted correctly, the front air dam and the correct trim around the grill.

Here are a few shots of the pair after the full blown detailing treatment.
