This has to be one of the longest running molds ever in 1:18 scale. Ertl has made this mold twice now and even this second generation mold is beginning to wear thin. Even though the casting on this particular model isn't the best it does hold up fairly well to the extremes of black paint. This car got full painted details and chrome.
Black cars show off the chrome trim so well!
Ertl detailed the engine fairly well but I added a few things like some black wash to the air cleaner and the master cylinder details.
I didn't really add anything to the interior except some black paint to the shifter boot.
The chassis probably got the bulk to the detailing since almost nothing was painted, it was mostly black plastic. It now has lots of nice contrasting colors.
Here's the view this car typically showed to other lesser cars. Even though the tail lights are still wrong for the RS it does have the RS style backup lights so I chromed the bezels around those.
