The information provided on this page is intended to be used as a reference. Please contact me by e-mail to obtain specific quotes. And since I do this as a hobby (I do have a REAL job!), I cannot guarantee specific turnaround times but I can typically turn things around inside a week. Again, contact me directly and I should be able to give some idea as to the turnaround time based on my current workload and what work is to be performed. Prices assume the model is supplied by the customer. If I am to supply the model, the price will include the purchase price and a $5 fee for acquiring a car. Payment is expected prior to return shipment, preferably with the receipt of cars to be detailed. Checks will not be cashed until the items are return shipped. I can accept credit cars: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
I have quite a number of examples of my work available for viewing from the Photo Index Page. Check them out for fun and reference. Some detailing work pictured is not available at this time. I can provide specific pictures of specific cars or details upon request via e-mail, just let me know what you would like to see and I will accomdate as best I can from the cars I have in my personal collection.
I. Customer is responsible for shipping in both directions. I can receive and return ship by UPSP Priority Mail and UPS. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended. Return shipping is usually about $8.50 for one car and you can add $2.50 for each additional car per package.
II. Prices are based on average time involved to perform the work described. Some detailing requires quite a bit of time, thus the higher prices for those items. My specialty is using chrome foil to simulate chrome trim. I do my best to fully research what trim belongs on each model. I do not charge separately for materials.
Chrome foil details:
A. Standard "Chrome Job" - $27.50. This includes chroming the windshield, rear window, side drip rails, wheel opening moldings, door lock bezels and side marker light bezels. Ertl 67 Chevelles fall in this category.
B. Standard "Chrome Job" less wheel openings" - $25. This includes the same work as in the "Chrome Job" but excludes the wheel opening trim. Ertl 69 Road Runners would fall in this category.
C. Simpler "Chrome Job" - $20. This includes windshield, rear window, door lock bezels and side drip rail chrome. The Ertl 70 'Cuda when done without wheel opening chrome trim would fit in here.
D. Some models have special needs and have unique pricing. Examples would include the Ertl 69/70 Novas which don't include wheel openings, but because of the trim required to make the SS grill look correct would fall into the $25 range. Another example would include the Ertl 70 Mustangs, the 1/4 window frames require quite a bit of extra work which makes up for the lack of wheel opening trim so they come in at $25.
E. "Chrome Jobs" include small painted details such as battery caps, radiator caps and master cylinders. This added feature adds a little color under the hood.
2. Painted Details:
A. Full Blown "Paint Detail Jobs" - $65, includes disassembling the model so the exhaust, gas tank, steering, drive shaft, engine components (oil filter, alternator, starter, fuel pump, distributor, washer bottle, transmission, underside of hood-GM only), typical interior trim details and suspension components (steering links, leaf springs, shocks). Paint Detail Jobs also include a Chrome Job. If the price seems high, it's because the work involved is quite time consuming. The price comes down obviously if some items are excluded. Some cars also receive exterior trim detailing to more closely simulate 1:1 trim look. Examples would include addtional body color on 70 Chevelle grills and additional black background paint details on the 69 Road Runner/GTX grills and taillight bezels.
B. Standard "Paint Detail Jobs" include everything in the Full Blown package except the interior trim, gas tank and underside of hood - $50.
C. Customized "Paint Detail Jobs" would include specific items you choose and chrome trim you choose. Price is dependent upon work required.
III. You can add a black or white vinyl roof to any car detailing work - $25. I cannot do a vinyl roof WITHOUT seams but since most vinyl roofs of the era had seams this is just making it more accurate.
IV. You can add a fully wired distributor with black, yellow or blue wires. All distributor caps are black. If you order full blown detailing a wiring job will be $20, otherwise the wiring job will be $30. (The additional cost is due to the extra time required to disassemble and reassemble the car to do the wiring. With a full blown detailing job the car must be disassembled anyway.)
V. At this time I do not typically offer full repaint or heavy modification work.
