This is the car that started it all in a way. Well, it stared two things. It was the first redundant car I ever bought. I already had a 70 Chevelle in my collection, but I was so eager to buy something diecast in a dry spell of new releases I bought it on a whim. I still don't buy too many redundant cars, but I do let myself do so with Chevelles. More importantly however, this is the car I sent to MTR as a prototype to show them how these models look with chrome foil detailing. The rest, they say, is history. The same day it arrived at MTR I was contracted to detail 150 of the MTR Shadow Gray Chevelles. I guess they liked what they saw! They should see it now after I've (finally) added even more detailing.

I do have to admit I can see why I bought it so many years ago against my own collecting rules. It just really looks good in yellow!

Lots of little things add up. Details were added to the master cylinder, exhaust, alternator, battery and washer bottle.

One of my favorite details that seem to add so much is the white stripes and lettering added to the 70 Chevelle steering wheel. It only takes a minute or so to do and usually turns out just great. Another fine example! The shifter and door panels got some touches of color as well.

Touches of color everywhere appropriate. It looks about 110% better than how it came out of the box but Ertl sure has gotten better at undercarriage details.
